Cheers

New Years has been my favorite day since I can remember being handed a bag of 12 grapes to eat and make wishes on. I love celebrating all the beautiful things of the previous year and dancing away the not so favorite moments. But more on the New Year tomorrow... it's still the eve!
Meaning today serves as a huge toast to memories! I can't think about one thing that doesn't bring a smile to my face from 2011.  There must have been some tears, but in all honesty, not one comes to mind. I got to travel the world. Enjoy the greatest friends- both old and new. Welcome in new family. Meet some goals I always wished to set. Find new passions and develop existing ones. And through all this discover so much of myself.

2012 has high and pretty shoes to fill- and I accept the challenge.
 But for tonight, I'll be dancing in the ones from 2011 for one last time

Just like the movies

I've been holding out on posting because I'm utterly embarrassed. I still have yet to get my hands on the pictures from the latest festivities! My apologies, for both that and the excuses! Truth is, although I was able to have a very uplifting Me-Date, I'm still not feeling myself! Nothing too serious, I assure you. But besides thinking about this funk, I've also been thinking about 2012.  -not the end of the world thing, this post will NOT be that morbid- but quite the opposite.
"New Years" is kind of a funny word. New being associated with beginning (although not always the case) and Year, 365 days squeezed into 4 little letters. If you're a commitment phobe this might freak you out- because whatever rap resolutions may have, in my book, they really should be attempts to ______ yourself long term.
And that's where the problem arises. What do I want to fill in ______? I want something concrete enough to tackle, yet abstract enough to be able to evolve and appropriately apply throughout the year, ya know? I have a couple things in mind, but just like in the movies, the falling action has some surprises in store before it's ready to reach the resolution- the grand finale.
So whether you've already decided to fill in your blank with "change yourself" "better yourself" or "find yourself", pay attention to the last few details and what may unravel before 2011's ending...

REST

I haven't had my cellphone since Saturday.
And I've never felt more disconnected!
 Ironically, I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with the lack of tech. This past weekend I've abused the use of glitter and glitz (you'll understand in later posts when I have my hands on the pictures!). Don't get me wrong, I'm all about that- nothing makes me happier than celebrating something or someone!
 But when the lipstick and buzz wear off, the recovery isn't as glamorous.
It's been busy, so I haven't had a chance to redeem myself! Luckily, the 3 c's are all I need..
Couple hours to myself, cup of coffee, and crafts!
Cheer's to my Me-Date today! If it goes well, I promise to share all the juicy details (;

Hanging out with this little nugget holding my hand is probably my #1 happy moment all week! Here's a couple more things that made me smile (:

Naturally, there has to be something edible on my list. Greenstreet brunch with my soul sisters yesterday set the bar real high. This veg.sand. is hands down in my top3... Can't get over it!

After 4hours with my hair lady.. this drink probably needed something a littler stronger. Nonetheless, the watermelon chunk, pear, and sparkling water mix left me refreshed enough to avoid pull out my freshly done do.

The 21 club is growing rapidly this week. I don't mind celebrating while I wait for my membership

 Being that my parents are cooler than me, they get invited to these lavish Holiday parties. The perks for me? Sunflower centerpieces light up my room afterwards.

Don't bother trying to decide what's more beautiful. Whether it's the natural lighting of the moon shining on the water or the starry-eyed skyline, here's more proof that I live in one of the most gorgeous cities in the world

Now

I couldn't agree more. My new mantra.
Time to put yourself out there.
Even little changes get you red-y for the most unexpected and wonderful surprises...

 I posted previously how I have endless amounts of lucky stars..last night, my first night back home, I saw 1-2-3 shooting stars!!! They said you wouldn't be able to see the Gemini meteor shower because of how bright the moon was...but then again nothing's impossible  in Miami (:

A lot

I'm currently sitting at Red eye, my favorite coffee spot in T- with an actual Red eye. Being an Advertising major (and recently double majoring in English too! woo!),  exams aren't the best way to determine pretty much anything. In other words, while the world takes advantage of the last weeks before finals, I play in the ad lab for 15 hours straight  (true story ): ). After 2 weeks of business, I've survived (minus the red eye). and am one tiny test away from Christmas break!! Cue Claus:

Anyways, lets play catch up!

I keep finding little reasons why FSU is absolutely wonderful! It's also been hitting me that most of the things going on are the "second to last time".  Crazy thought (both because I do have time.. but also because not so much)

4sure you all think I'm some sort of tree hugger considering the number of times I post pics of this kinda stuff. I guess I'm just not used to pretty pines..and the colors they've been wearing lately are beyond me! Oh, and don't get me started on what I think about them at nighttime when they're all dressed up. I'm worried my future backyard will look like Santa's Enchanted Forest to be quite honest..

Summer Salad made up of Christmas colors is a tropical elf's dream<3 Avocado, tomato, feta, with hummus and dollop of sour cream.. strange mix? I dare you to try it and not fall in lurrvee

One of my assignments was to create a website.. Considering I usually opt for templates, making one from scratch seemed overwhelming- at first. I then turned into an html speaking alien (not really, but I'm happy with what I learned). Here's my little cupcake creation. Don't be quick to judge- there was a rubric I had to follow.. I promise once my grade goes up, I'll go back and add my sweet touch (;

I've always felt nostalgic when thinking about the past - normal reaction, except the little weirdo that I am, I feel the same thing when thinking about things I'm not even old enough to experience for myself. So when anniversaries of serious world changing events come around, I find myself feeling a little glum. This past week it was a double whammie. December 7th was the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. I can't even wrap my head around that. And the next day marks the 31 years since John Lennon was shot. Ironic isn't it? The tragedy that caused hundreds of men to enlist to fight for our country in war happens the same week one man who fought for peace was killed. Years later, thou, when I actually was present, I visited Pearl Harbor and met a man who's greatest friend was the pilot of the Japanese fighter jet that bombed his naval ship. One good thing about the time I was born in, is being able to see how it all turns out. So in other words, which ever fight you believe in, whether it's for peace through war or protest, there's people out there who believe in hope- and that's pretty awesome.

Thursday Thought

It's so simple to make someones day. This isn't breaking news, I know that. Which is exactly why it's such a shame people seem to forget. Today someone who has the power do something really great, chose to let his pride and reputation get the best of him. Normally, I'll shake my head when I witness something like that, but for some reason, today it really hit a nerve. Luckily, I'm rarely surrounded by these black clouds, but while on the subject, It's been a while since I've felt a little sunshine. I know it's out there, thou. Just in case you need something to light up your day, check out how far something sweet and simple can go..
Embrace the change you can make (:
